WHAT IS DOWNWOOL ®?

What makes this skirt special is its innovative insulation: In a DownWool® skirt, you'll immediately feel the wide temperature comfort range, where you'll never be too cold or too hot. Furthermore, the insulation is naturally more resistant to high humidity.

This is achieved through the mechanical combination of 70% RDS-certified down and 30% wool from the Alps. This combination is patent-pending and acts like a lightweight and natural air conditioner.

Down: excellent insulation performance

• High-quality down provides exceptional insulation at a low weight. However, down clumps together in high humidity (air, sweat, condensation) and loses its insulating properties. Grüezi bag solves this problem with its innovative DownWool® insulation.

Wool: effective moisture and temperature regulation

• Thanks to the addition of wool in DownWool®, the down stays naturally drier and thus retains its insulating properties. This is because wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture through its capillaries and release it gradually to the outside.
• DownWool® retains its insulating properties at humidity levels up to 90%. The wool fibers stand upright when exposed to moisture, increasing the insulating loft by up to 30%, further improving the skirt's insulation.
• DownWool® not only effectively regulates moisture but also body temperature. Wool prevents cooling through evaporation and retains its warming properties even when damp, a feat unmatched by any other material. Thanks to its unique temperature-regulating properties, wool naturally creates a comfortably pleasant microclimate.
• The body requires a lot of energy to regulate its temperature. Wool supports this process thanks to its excellent temperature-regulating properties.
• Furthermore, wool neutralizes unpleasant odors.

WHAT IS ALM WOOL?

What makes this skirt special is its innovative lavalan® Alpine wool insulation. The insulation consists of a lightweight wool fleece from sheep in the Alpine region: robust, natural, biodegradable and renewable.

Wool acts like a light and natural air conditioner. In a hybrid skirt, you'll immediately notice the wide temperature comfort range, where you'll never be too cold or too hot. Furthermore, the insulation is naturally resistant to high humidity, resulting in a naturally dry and balanced climate inside the hybrid skirt.

• Effective temperature and moisture regulation: Wool balances temperature fluctuations like a gentle, natural air conditioner. Wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture and releases it gradually to the outside. This natural regulation creates a warming or cooling effect without the cooling effect of evaporative cooling.
• It insulates even in very high humidity: Wool wicks away sweat and retains its warming properties even when damp, something no other material can do. This means it provides excellent insulation even in very high humidity, offering high thermal performance in cold, wet weather.
• Dries very quickly: Wool insulation dries very quickly and can therefore be used directly at over 100% humidity.
• Neutralizes unpleasant odors: Wool has antibacterial properties and thus naturally neutralizes unpleasant odors.

CARE

Wash

• The washing instructions are located in the inside pocket of the skirt.
• The skirt can be hand-washed with a down detergent at a maximum temperature of 30°C/86°F or machine-washed on a wool cycle. Please turn inside out, close the zipper, perform an extra rinse cycle, and do not use fabric softener.
• Remove the items from the machine, loosen them up a bit, and finally spin them only lightly (max. 600 revolutions)!

Dry

• Tumble dry at max. 60 °C/ 140 °F and be sure to add 2-3 tennis balls for better fluffing.
• Please perform several drying cycles, removing the item from the machine after each cycle, shaking or loosening it well, and allowing it to cool down in between.
• The dryer must be set to a timer program to dry the down completely.
• If a dryer is not used, the jacket can be laid on a clothes rack on sunny days and shaken frequently to allow air to reach the jacket from above and below.

When is the drying process complete?

• If the item still does not have its original thickness, the drying process must be repeated until the jacket feels more filled than before.
• Depending on the waterproofness of the outer material, the drying process can take different amounts of time (at least 2 days, depending on the dryer model).
• The down must be completely dry. If the skirt hasn't been properly dried and fluffed, the down feathers may clump together, ruining the skirt beyond repair. Damp down can smell, but this will disappear once it's dry.

Tip

• Down skirts should be dried in a tumble dryer with tennis balls from time to time or after every tour to remove excess moisture.
• Airing your skirt is better than washing it. DownWool® skirts rarely need washing because wool has natural odor-resistant and dirt-repellent properties. For small, external stains, we recommend gently cleaning only the stain itself (like this). Skirts with greasy or extensive soiling can be machine washed.
