BIOPOD DOWNWOOL SUMMER 175
High quality summer sleeping bag
The Biopod DownWool Summer is the optimal trekking and biking sleeping bag for the best holiday season from the end of spring to the beginning of autumn and offers an excellent ratio of insulation to weight and pack size.
Its comfortably cut mummy shape makes it light and small in pack size. The pillow compartment is also very practical - simply insert a fleece jacket, for example, and you have a pillow that won't slip during sleep.
The mummy sleeping bag has an innovative zip that allows you to comfortably place your feet on the top of the sleeping bag when it gets too warm.
A deep and recuperative sleep is especially important after an active day. That's why our mummy sleeping bags are cut more comfortably, while we also pay attention to light weight and small packing volume.
The unique feature of our DownWool sleeping bags is their innovative insulation: DownWool is a natural insulation made of 70% down and 30% wool and combines the advantages of both natural materials. Very good insulation and a pleasant feel-good climate.
HOW THE UNIQUE DOWNWOOL INSULATION WORKS
The natural high-end DownWool insulation is a blend of 70% high-quality RDS-certified down, which provides high insulation, and 30% wool from the Alpine region, which acts like a lightweight natural air conditioner. The combination is perfect. Nothing insulates as well as high-quality down. The 30% wool content absorbs any moisture that arises and thus keeps the down naturally drier. Down has a very high insulating capacity at a low weight. However, down only insulates as long as it is dry and fluffy. With increasing humidity, the fine branching of the down collapses, which considerably reduces the insulating effect of the down. For this reason, the down is often treated with water-repellent agents. With DownWool, this is made unnecessary by adding the wool content. Wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without losing its insulating effect. Furthermore, wool is very temperature regulating and creates a pleasant microclimate in a natural way.
The result is a unique sleeping climate, which means that the temperature range in which you feel comfortable and sleep well in a DownWool sleeping bag is particularly wide. This makes DownWool sleeping bags popular all-rounders.

WHAT IS DOWNWOOL ®?
What makes this sleeping bag special is its innovative insulation: In a DownWool® sleeping bag, you'll immediately notice the wide temperature comfort range, where you'll never be too cold or too hot. Furthermore, the insulation is naturally more resistant to high humidity.
This is achieved through the mechanical combination of 70% animal welfare-certified down (RDS-certified) and 30% wool from the Alps. This combination is patent-pending and acts like a lightweight and natural air conditioner.
Down: excellent insulation performance
- High-quality down provides exceptional insulation at a low weight. However, down clumps together in high humidity (air, sweat, condensation) and loses its insulating properties. Grüezi bag solves this problem with its innovative DownWool® insulation.
Wool: effective moisture and temperature regulation
- Thanks to the addition of wool in DownWool®, the down stays naturally drier and thus retains its insulating properties. This is because wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture through its capillaries and release it gradually to the outside.
- DownWool® retains its insulating properties at humidity levels up to 90%. The wool fibers stand upright when exposed to moisture, increasing the insulating loft by up to 30%, further improving the sleeping bag's insulation.
- DownWool® not only effectively regulates moisture but also body temperature. Wool prevents cooling through evaporation and retains its warming properties even when damp, a feat unmatched by any other material. Thanks to its unique temperature-regulating properties, wool naturally creates a comfortably pleasant microclimate.
- The body requires a lot of energy to regulate its temperature. Wool supports this process thanks to its excellent temperature-regulating properties.
- Furthermore, wool neutralizes unpleasant odors.
The result: excellent insulation and a wide temperature range in which you feel comfortable and can sleep well. DownWool® is also less sensitive to moisture. This makes DownWool® sleeping bags from Grüezi bag® popular all-rounders.

CARE
- The washing instructions are located in the inner pocket of the sleeping bag.
- The sleeping bag can be hand-washed with a down detergent at a maximum temperature of 30°C/86°F or machine-washed on a wool cycle. Please turn inside out, close the zipper, perform an extra rinse cycle, and do not use fabric softener.
- Remove the items from the machine, loosen them up a bit, and perform another spin cycle at a maximum of 600 revolutions.
Dry
- Tumble dry at max. 60 °C/ 140 °F and be sure to add 2-3 tennis balls for better fluffing.
- Please perform several drying cycles, removing the item from the machine after each cycle, shaking or loosening it well, and allowing it to cool down in between.
- The dryer must be set to a timer program to dry the down completely.
- If a dryer is not used, the sleeping bag can be placed on a clothes rack on sunny days and shaken frequently to allow air to reach the sleeping bag from above and below.
When is the drying process complete?
- If the item still does not have its original thickness, the drying process must be repeated until the sleeping bag feels more filled than before.
- Depending on the waterproofness of the outer material, the drying process can take different amounts of time (at least 2 days, depending on the dryer model).
-
The down must be completely dry. If the sleeping bag hasn't been properly dried and fluffed, the down feathers may clump together, which can irreparably damage the sleeping bag. You can tell the product is completely dry because it will feel fuller and thicker than before. Damp down can have an unpleasant odor, but this will disappear after drying.
TIP
- Down sleeping bags should be dried in a tumble dryer with tennis balls from time to time or after every trip to remove excess moisture.
- Sleeping bags must be stored open and dry in their storage bag.
- When packing the sleeping bag into the compression sack, it must be stuffed with the foot end first, not rolled or folded.
- Airing out a sleeping bag is better than washing it. DownWool® sleeping bags rarely need washing, as wool itself has natural odor-resistant and dirt-repellent properties. For minor external soiling, we recommend gently cleaning only the stain itself (like this). Heavily soiled or greasy sleeping bags can be machine washed.
- A sleeping mat should be used under every sleeping bag, as the insulation is compressed downwards inside the sleeping bag and therefore cannot trap air and thus heat. You can find more information about choosing the right sleeping mat here .
