BIOPOD DOWNWOOL SUBZERO 185
High-quality 3-season sleeping bag
From spring to autumn is the best season for trekking, biking, backpacking and camping: The Biopod DownWool Subzero 3-season sleeping bag is a perfect companion.
Its comfortably cut mummy shape makes it light and small in pack size. The pillow compartment is also very practical - simply insert a fleece jacket, for example, and you have a pillow that won't slip during sleep.
The mummy sleeping bag has an innovative zip that allows you to comfortably place your feet on the top of the sleeping bag when it gets too warm.
A deep and recuperative sleep is especially important after an active day. That's why our mummy sleeping bags are cut more comfortably, while we also pay attention to light weight and small packing volume.
The unique feature of our DownWool sleeping bags is their innovative insulation: DownWool is a natural insulation made of 70% down and 30% wool and combines the advantages of both natural materials. Very good insulation and a pleasant feel-good climate.
HOW THE UNIQUE DOWNWOOL INSULATION WORKS
The natural high-end DownWool insulation is a blend of 70% high-quality RDS-certified down, which provides high insulation, and 30% wool from the Alpine region, which acts like a lightweight natural air conditioner. The combination is perfect. Nothing insulates as well as high-quality down. The 30% wool content absorbs any moisture that arises and thus keeps the down naturally drier. Down has a very high insulating capacity at a low weight. However, down only insulates as long as it is dry and fluffy. With increasing humidity, the fine branching of the down collapses, which considerably reduces the insulating effect of the down. For this reason, the down is often treated with water-repellent agents. With DownWool, this is made unnecessary by adding the wool content. Wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without losing its insulating effect. Furthermore, wool is very temperature regulating and creates a pleasant microclimate in a natural way.
The result is a unique sleeping climate, which means that the temperature range in which you feel comfortable and sleep well in a DownWool sleeping bag is particularly wide. This makes DownWool sleeping bags popular all-rounders.

WHAT IS DOWNWOOL® 2.0?
DownWool® 2.0 provides an exceptionally wide comfort temperature range, in which you will neither get too hot nor too cold, and is significantly less sensitive to moisture.
This is made possible by the mechanical combination of 70% RDS-certified down and 30% Alpine wool – a patent-pending, durable and washable combination.
Down: best insulation performance
High-quality down offers excellent warmth at minimal weight. However, in high humidity (e.g., from perspiration or condensation), it clumps together and loses its insulating properties. This is precisely where DownWool® 2.0 comes in and solves this problem.
Wool: natural moisture and temperature regulation
The added wool keeps the down drier, as it can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture and release it to the outside. Even at 90% humidity, DownWool® remains insulating because the wool fibers stand upright, increasing the loft by up to 30% . In the latest DownWool® 2.0 blend, the wool takes on a down-like structure, resulting in even more loft and therefore insulation.
Furthermore, wool prevents evaporative cooling , provides warmth even when damp, neutralizes odors, and thus creates a pleasantly balanced microclimate. This means your body needs to expend less energy on temperature regulation.
The combination of down and wool – the perfect combination
DownWool® offers outstanding insulation and an exceptionally wide temperature comfort range. This ensures you feel completely comfortable – even in high humidity. Ideal for versatile use.

CARE
- Turn the item inside out and close the zipper .
- Only fill the washing machine halfway and select a low spin speed .
- Wash your DownWool® products at 30°C (86°F) in the wool cycle of your washing machine or by hand – using only down detergent and no fabric softener .
- Perform an additional rinse cycle.
- Then loosen slightly and spin again at a maximum of 600 rpm .
- For stains (e.g., deodorant residue or cream): Gently knead the stain with diluted down detergent , do not rub! Clean the stain locally; only wash the entire garment if it is heavily soiled.
Dry
- Tumble dry at max. 60 °C / 140 °F, with 2-3 tennis balls .
- Several rounds in the timed program are necessary.
- After each use: shake well, let cool .
-
No dryer required: Let DownWool® products air dry flat on a clothes rack – not hanging, not on a radiator, and not in direct sunlight. Shake frequently !
When is the drying process complete?
- If the item still does not have its original thickness, the drying process must be repeated until the sleeping bag feels more filled than before washing.
- Depending on the waterproofness of the outer material, the drying process can take different amounts of time (at least 2 days, depending on the dryer model).
- The down must be completely dry. If the sleeping bag hasn't been properly dried and fluffed, the down feathers may clump together, which can irreparably damage the sleeping bag. You can tell the product is completely dry because it will feel fuller and thicker than before. Damp down can have an unpleasant odor, but this will disappear after drying.
TIPS & ADVICE
- Regularly refresh the clothes after tumble drying with tennis balls to remove moisture.
- Airing instead of washing : Wool is naturally odor-resistant and dirt-repellent.
- Store the sleeping bag loosely and dry in the storage bag (not in the compression sack).
- When packing: Stuff the foot section first, do not roll or fold.
- A sleeping mat should be placed under every sleeping bag, as the insulation is compressed downwards inside the sleeping bag and therefore cannot trap air and thus heat. You can find more information about choosing the right sleeping mat here .
-
A few down feathers escaping is normal and not a quality defect.
Our DownWool® products are made from high-quality, intentionally uncoated fabrics to ensure breathability. This means that down can escape more easily than with coated fabrics. Therefore, we have slightly overfilled the products to maintain their warmth even after many years.
